2021 World Supersport Calendar
The FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) serves as the intermediate tier and primary support class of the World Superbike series, featuring mid-sized production-based motorcycles that emphasize agility and high corner speeds. Traditionally centered on 600cc four-cylinder machines, the series recently transitioned to "Next Generation" regulations, utilizing a sophisticated Balance of Performance (BoP) system to allow a diverse range of larger-displacement engines, such as the Ducati Panigale V2, Triumph Street Triple 765, and MV Agusta F3 800, to compete fairly against established models like the Yamaha R6 and Kawasaki ZX-6R. Renowned for its fierce competition and narrow margins, WorldSSP acts as a critical proving ground for emerging talent and veteran riders alike, delivering two high-intensity races per weekend that showcase the commercial and technical potential of the global middleweight sportbike market.
