2018 IndyCar Calendar
The NTT IndyCar Series is North America's premier open-wheel racing championship, renowned for its extreme diversity and the legendary Indianapolis 500 as its centerpiece. Unlike Formula 1, IndyCar utilizes a spec chassis provided by Dallara, equipped with the "Aeroscreen" safety device, and allows teams to choose between twin-turbocharged V6 engines from either Chevrolet or Honda, which are now enhanced by hybrid power units. The series is uniquely challenging because it competes on a mix of permanent road courses, temporary street circuits, short ovals, and high-speed superspeedways, where cars can reach speeds exceeding 230 mph. With a focus on close-quarters racing and tactical variety, featuring rolling starts, refueling, and a "Push-to-Pass" boost system, IndyCar emphasizes driver skill and strategic execution, crowning a champion with the prestigious Astor Cup.
